Condoms are safe methods to avoid contracting of various sexually transmitted diseases and infection. More than that, condom is widely used as a birth control measure in many countries. This cheap and little, yet powerful method for avoiding various unwanted transfers of infection and sperms must be used for ensuring a safe sex each time.
Condoms can be mixed with various lubricants for aiding the penetration as well as enhancing the pleasure for both the partners. Adding a lubrication, however, may not be worthwhile for ensuring your safety and protection. There are some lubricants that can affect adversely on the latex condoms and make them useless, hence posing a risk of unwanted pregnancy as well as contracting various STDs or infections.
Lubricants such as baby oil, corn oil and sunflower oil must not be used as lubricants while using condoms as a birth control measure. Other edible oils such as olive oil and peanut oil are also dangerous and can lead to the damaging of the condoms. Couples tend to use massage oils and petroleum jellies as lubricants for easy penetration, however, if used with latex condoms, these can also damage the condoms.
Latex condoms must be used with lubricants that are specially made for them such as KY jelly or aqua lube. There are some more types of lubricants that can be used with latex condoms like spermicides (that kill the sperms before they enter the vagina), aloe-9, egg whites, silicone lubricant, saliva and glycerin. It is always better to have enough knowledge before using any kind of lubricant with condoms.
